Advocacy Efforts
2013 Arkansas Legislative Session - 89th General AssemblyWhy historic preservation is important to Arkansas
Current Issues
House Bill 2078 - would abolish the Capitol Zoning District Commission, a critical tool for for protecting the special historic character and the vitality of areas around the State Capitol and the Governor's Mansion in our State's capital city.
Please contact members of the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs today and ask them to oppose HB2078, sponsored by Rep. Nate Bell (R-20, Mena).
House Bill 1980 & House Bill 1981 - would promote placemaking and downtown redevelopment through an investment tax credit for development in Central Business Districts (HB1981) and incentives for Arts and Cultural Districts (HB1980). These two bills build on legislation that was passed in 2011 concerning a CBID Investment Tax Credit and the formation of and defined the procedures for establishing arts and cultural districts.
Please contact members of the House Committee on Revenue and Taxation today and ask them to support HB1980 & HB1981, sponsored by Rep. Warwick Sabin (D-33, Little Rock).
Senate Bill 367 - instances where property value is reduced by 25% due to state or local regulations including zoning, local ordinance historic districts, conservation easements, etc. would constitute a taking. Learn why we oppose it here.
